A Good Guffaw

My daughter has a concussion that she received while laughing. That is a hearty laugh. My dog even knows how to laugh. You see her do this in her sleep when her tail starts to wag while she is snoring. A good guffaw is something we all need from time to time.
This is an important thing for us as authors to remember when we write. My last few blog posts have been particularly heavy. I am sending you, and me, this reminder to laugh. Here in Michigan, we often hear people talk about seasonal depression because of the long nights and cloudy days during the winter months. I, like others, am worried about this particular winter as it has started in such a slump. But I also feel a certain joy as we settle into this festive season. I have been sharing the “Twelve Days of Christmas” sung by Straight No Chaser, with friends and family to bring levity.
So, as I sit here, in front of a fire, writing this short snippet, I share with you a laugh for the season and to start the week off right. My dog just settled in beside me to hear what I write. The room is quiet, and the sun has set. The lighting is perfect for writing. This is the mood that I like when I am working. So, I ask you, why did the turkey bring cranberries to Thanksgiving dinner? Because it was berry happy it was almost Christmas.
Remember, when we write, everything is enjoyable to someone. It is not about being perfect. It is about having joy in your heart and finding the peace in your soul and mind that you need to let your inner voice come out.
Have a good guffaw and let your writing take you into this festive season. Peace to you all.
